Arts and Entertainment
Resch Center We’ve heard it before; people are amazed at just how many arts and entertainment ventures thrive in Green Bay metro area. As a matter of fact, Green Bay and its surrounding communities house some of the Midwest’s finest performing arts facilities, galleries and museums. Performing ArtsYour options for seeing a live performance are about as plentiful and varied as they are outstanding! At the 2,000-plus seat Weidner Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, you can enjoy performance on a grand scale, taking in a show that may very well have played most recently on the stages of Broadway. Or, you can head off to the Resch Center and be dazzled by the full-size spectacular, something like Royal Lipizzaner Stallions or a concert from top-recording artists like Elton John, Cher, Aerosmith and more.
Meyer Theatre For something on a smaller scale, try out a live performance at the 985-seat Meyer Theatre, a freshly restored 1930s art deco masterpiece on the National Registry of Historic Places. For a wonderful change of pace, Green Bay’s live performance opportunities offer something for young and old alike. Now, if the talents of gifted musicians move you, you’re going to love what you hear. The Green Bay Symphony Orchestra, part of our cultural fabric for more than 90 years, is now the third largest professional orchestra in Wisconsin, promoting performances of the highest quality for the enjoying of a growing audience. The Allouez Village Band, Green Bay City Band and the Green Bay Civic Symphony performances are also popular. From up-and-coming performers at our area colleges, to local enthusiasts who love their art of its own sake — such as Green Bay Community Theatre and the Baylander Chorus — there’s always a way to play your part in the performing arts. |
