Festivals and EventsDo you like block parties? Well, multiply that idea by several thousand and you’ve got the festivals of the Green Bay area. International Bayfest
Photo: International Bayfest International Bayfest in downtown Green Bay is the largest music and food festival north of Milwaukee, attracting well over 100,000 fun-lovers every year. From three giant music stages, listeners enjoy a great mix of jazz, country, reggae and blues with the sounds of more than 30 bands. Two dozen international and domestic food stands will give you the energy to browse the hand-crafted goods of the marketplace. The kids will love the fireworks, boat parade, jugglers, sing-alongs and more. International Bayfest is kicked off with a lighted boat parade on the Fox River, and a fantastic fireworks display. ArtStreet
Photo: Artstreet The second-to-last weekend of each August brings the excitement and color of ArtStreet to downtown. This cultural potpourri is a favorite of artists and craftspeople from around the country. Here, you’ll find sculpture, paintings, ceramics and more works of stunning display art, as well as practical art demonstrations by more than 200 exhibiting artists. But it doesn’t end there. ArtStreet also brings you the performing arts, with four stages that show jazz, blues and classical music. Strolling performers juggle, mime and act their way through the crowds, while dance and live theater take place on stage. Top it off with hands-on art projects for the kids and you’ve got an activity-packed weekend you won’t want to see come to an end. On Broadway

There’s always some great festival or event going on — summer, fall, winter and spring. Take the Farmer’s Market for example: more than 1,000 people come out to the Broadway District every Wednesday from June through September to enjoy live music, great fresh produce, original artwork, local wine, unique treats and some of the best beer in town. Green Bay’s Taste On Broadway, held each August, features several locally owned restaurants from Green Bay, great live music and fun in the streets. Broadway remains festive even in the cold winter with Winterfest On Broadway. More than 5,000 people venture out in January to watch the ice sculptors create their masterpieces, sample soup in the soup cook-off and even dunk a local celebrity in the outdoor dunk tank. TIME WARNER CABLE GREEN BAY HOLIDAY PARADE

This parade is held the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving. Pumpkin-PaloozaEach fall, Pumpkin-Palooza On Broadway welcomes more than 2,500 families to the district for safe trick-or-treating, Halloween crafts, pumpkins, shopping and more. CELEBRATE AMERICA FEST
Photo: Celebrate AmericaFest by Mike Roemer The 4th of July’s Celebrate America Fest has thousands lining both banks of the Fox River downtown. Plenty of great music, food, dancing and more ushers in the most spectacular fireworks show in this part of Wisconsin, with the huge colorful burst high overhead reflected in the waters of the Fox. CELEBRATE DE PERE
Photo: Celebrate De Pere Created in 1990 to celebrate the city of De Pere’s 100th Anniversary, Celebrate De Pere started as a one-day event, and has since evolved into one of Wisconsin’s premier outdoor festivals. Driven by a core group of volunteers, the event’s mission is to help local non-profit groups raise money for their many different causes. The event supports local causes with its proceeds. Celebrate De Pere is held each year during Memorial weekend on De Pere’s waterfront, and includes live music, carnival rides, games and more. |
