Manufacturing is truly the backbone of our local economy – and its benefits extend both the employee who pursues a career in it and the country as a whole. Projections from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development show that Wisconsin manufacturers will have 7,620 job openings each year through 2014. Many of these jobs involve the use of dynamic, cutting-edge technology, providing excellent career opportunities and enhancing our quality of life.

And manufacturing has a powerful impact on the economy. Every $1 in manufactured goods generates an additional $1.43 of additional economic activity – more than any other economic sector. Plus, manufacturers are responsible for nearly two-thirds of all private sector research and development – information that ultimately benefits the business community at large.
